Black humour is a term coined by Surrealist theoretician André Breton. It refers to a sub-genre of comedy and satire in which laughter arises from cynicism and scepticism. The intention is to provoke laughter and a degree of discomfort simultaneously. There are plenty of examples here. Some of these quotes are just dark and not humorous.
