A woman was told she had an aggressive cancer. Only one drug, a special form of radium, could possibly have saved her. It was not available on the National Health Service and was far too expensive for the woman’s family to afford. Her husband tried to borrow the money, but he could only raise half the cost of the required course of treatment. As his wife’s condition deteriorated, he became increasingly desperate. Eventually, at his wits’ end, he broke into a pharmacy to steal the drug. Should he have done that?
