Does drinking milk cause global warming?

Today’s helping of bad science comes courtesy of a major Swedish study, published in the British Medical Journal, suggesting that drinking milk not only fails to prevent bone fractures, but may also be responsible for earlier death.

So what are we supposed to infer from this? Exactly how early am I going to die? Are we talking hours, days, years? The scientists from Uppsala University found that women who drink three or more glasses of milk a day (680ml) were twice as likely to die in the period studied than were people who drank a more normal amount (whatever that is). So, if I drink two glasses of milk a day, will I increase my life expectancy by five minutes? Six years?

What about goat’s milk? What about the milk I take in my tea? What about the other dairy products I consume?

Pah! Soon they will make a connection between milk consumption and global warming. Oh wait, there is one!

About thespeedofdark

David Winship has written an unauthorised autobiography and several critically disdained literary tomes. His work is frequently compared with Steinbeck, Orwell and Hemingway, but unfortunately Mike Steinbeck, Daisy Orwell and Howard Hemingway were all terrible writers. He has been totally overlooked for the most prestigious literary awards worldwide, which is a shame as most of the words are spelled correctly. In fact, his books contain material that ranks with the finest literary works in history: all the right letters are there, just not necessarily in the right order.

Dave’s blog (The Speed Of Dark Blog) is part of his crusade for truth and justice and universal entitlement to free real ale. It may well be that his whole purpose in life is to serve as a warning to others.
