In today’s Daily Telegraph, David Cameron says he will not rest until people have been put in control of their choices and chances in life. “Brick by brick, we’re tearing down the big state,” he boasts. “I want us to end once and for all the closed state monopoly where central government decides what you get, and how you get it”.
This seems more than a little disingenuous to me. Clearly, the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing (actually it’s probably the other way round). How can the Prime Minister claim to be dismantling central bureaucracy to empower people locally when he is allowing the EU bureaucracy monster to stretch its tentacles into every aspect of our lives?
